Summary

Sundance Spas Inc. is recalling about 23,700 Jacuzzi and Sundance Spas brand hot tubs sold between July 2021 and December 2022. The recall includes Jacuzzi J-200, J-300, J-400, and J-500 models, as well as Sundance Spas 680, 780, 880, and 980 Series. A faulty temperature sensor can provide incorrect water temperature readings, causing the water to become much hotter than the user intended. There have been 185 reports of inaccurate temperature readings, but no injuries have been reported to date. Consumers are advised to schedule a free repair and use an external thermometer in the meantime.

Risk

The temperature sensor can fail and relay incorrect data, allowing the water to reach temperatures higher than the set limit. This poses a significant risk of heat stroke and thermal burns to consumers who enter the hot tub thinking the water is at a safe level.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall affects Jacuzzi J-200, J-300, J-400, and J-500 collection hot tubs and Sundance Spas 680, 780, 880, and 980 Series spas sold between July 2021 and December 2022.
  2. Locate the silver plate in the equipment bay of your hot tub to find the model and serial number.
  3. Verify if your specific unit is affected by entering the serial number into the recall tool at www.sundancespas.com/en-us/recall.html or www.jacuzzi.com/en-us/recall.html.
  4. Before entering the hot tub, always use an accurate external thermometer to confirm the water temperature is no higher than 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
  5. Do not enter the hot tub if the external thermometer indicates a temperature higher than 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. Contact an authorized dealer to schedule a free repair. You can find Jacuzzi dealers at www.jacuzzi.com/en-us/find-a-dealer/ and Sundance Spas dealers at www.sundancespas.com/en-us/find-a-dealer/.
