Summary

Summit Treestands is recalling about 2,900 Crush Series Perch, Stoop, and Ledge tree stands. The hanging strap assembly used to secure the stand to a tree can dislodge or fail to hold properly, which can cause the hunter to fall. These stands were sold at hunting stores and in catalogs like Bass Pro Shops nationwide from July 2012 through August 2012 for between $70 and $100. Consumers should immediately stop using these stands and contact the manufacturer for a free replacement strap assembly.

Risk

The tree stand's tan hanging strap assembly can fail to maintain a secure grip on the tree or may detach from the stand entirely, posing a serious fall hazard to hunters. While no injuries have been reported, a failure during use could result in serious injury or death.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled Crush Series Perch, Stoop, and Ledge tree stands.
  2. Identify your tree stand by checking the safety label attached near the buckle of the tan hanging strap assembly for item numbers 82069 (Perch), 82070 (Stoop), or 82071 (Ledge).
  3. Verify the manufacturing date on the strap label; affected straps are marked as 'MANUFACTURED IN 2012' and may include a warning to 'DO NOT USE this strap after June 1, 2014'.
  4. Contact Summit Treestands, LLC toll-free at 855-373-9808 anytime or visit www.summitstands.com and click on the 'Recall' icon to receive a free replacement hanging strap assembly.
