2018-2024 Harley-Davidson Softail Recalled for Sudden Loss of Tire Pressure

Summary

Harley-Davidson Motor Company is recalling approximately 82,117 Softail motorcycles from the 2018 through 2024 model years. A mounting tab on the rear shock pre-load adjuster may break, which allows the adjuster to rub against and damage the rear tire. This contact can lead to a sudden loss of tire pressure while riding. To fix this, authorized dealers will install a new mounting bracket for the pre-load adjuster at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If the rear tire suddenly loses pressure while the motorcycle is in motion, the rider may lose control of the vehicle, which significantly increases the risk of a crash and potential injury.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall affects 2018-2024 Harley-Davidson Softail motorcycles that use a rear shock pre-load adjuster.
  2. Contact an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer to schedule an appointment for the free installation of a new mounting bracket for the rear shock pre-load adjuster.
  3. Note that even if your motorcycle was previously repaired under a similar recall (number 23V591), you must still have this new remedy completed to ensure the vehicle is safe.
  4. For further questions or to confirm if your vehicle is included, contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464 and reference recall number 0188.
