Summary

Harley-Davidson Motor Company is recalling 776 Tail Rear Shock Absorbers (part number 54000294) and Low Rear Suspension Shock Absorbers (part number 54000134) designed for 2018-2024 Softail motorcycles. A mounting tab on the pre-load adjuster may break, allowing the component to strike and damage the rear tire. Dealers will install a new bracket to properly secure the adjuster free of charge.

Risk

If the mounting tab breaks, the adjuster can damage the rear tire and cause a sudden loss of tire pressure. This sudden loss of pressure while riding significantly increases the risk of a crash.
