Summary

Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp is recalling approximately 429 of its 2019 Solo G2 and 2021-2023 Solo G3 electric vehicles. A defect in the motor controller and inverter or the battery controller can cause the electric motor to shut down unexpectedly, resulting in a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. To address this safety risk, Electra Meccanica has committed to repurchasing all affected vehicles from their owners.

Risk

A sudden loss of drive power while operating the vehicle significantly increases the risk of a crash, as the driver may be unable to maintain speed or safely maneuver in traffic.
