Stuart Weitzman Girls' Cha Cha Boots Recalled by Synclaire Brands Due to Fall Hazard

Summary

Approximately 5,000 Stuart Weitzman brand Cha Cha and Cha Cha 2 girls' boots are being recalled because the zipper pulls can become entangled, causing a child to trip and fall. There have been three reports of the zipper pulls interlocking, including one incident where a child lost her balance and suffered a forehead laceration that required stitches. These boots were sold in black or white vinyl with quilted nylon shafts in girls' sizes 13 through 5 at Bloomingdale's, Belk, TJ Maxx, and Zappos.com. Consumers should immediately stop using these boots and return them for a full refund.

Risk

The gold-tone SW logo zipper pulls on the inside of the boots can catch on each other while walking or while a child is attempting to untangle them. This poses a serious fall hazard that has already resulted in one reported head injury requiring stitches.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your child's boots to see if they are the Stuart Weitzman brand Cha Cha or Cha Cha 2 model.
  2. Look at the inside top of the boots for a white tag that identifies the model name and the size (girls' sizes 13 through size 5).
  3. Confirm if the boots have gold-tone 'SW' logo zipper pulls on the inside side of the boots.
  4. Immediately take the recalled boots away from children and stop using them to prevent a fall.
  5. Return the boots to any Bloomingdale's, Belk, or TJ Maxx store for a full refund. If purchased online at Zappos.com, contact the retailer for return instructions.
  6. Contact Synclaire Brands U.S.A. at 888-998-0702 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.synclaire.com and click on the 'recall information' link for more details.
