Summary

New Flyer of America is recalling 55 transit buses from model years 2021 and 2022, including models XD40, XD60, XDE40, XN35, XE40, XN40, and XN60. The steering gears in these vehicles may have been incorrectly assembled, which can cause the gear to break during operation. Dealers will inspect and replace the steering gear if necessary at no cost to the owner.

Risk

An incorrectly assembled steering gear can fracture while the bus is in motion, leading to a sudden loss of steering control. This failure significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking for these specific models: 2021-2022 New Flyer XD40, XD60, XDE40; 2022 XN35, XE40, XN40; or 2021 XN60 transit buses.
  2. Contact New Flyer’s customer service at 1-204-224-6706 to schedule a free inspection and potential replacement of the steering gear. Mention recall number R22-026 during your call.
