Summary

PACCAR Incorporated is recalling approximately 45,887 Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks from the 2024 and 2025 model years. The steering gear assemblies in these vehicles may have been built with too few recirculating balls, which can cause the steering to fail. To fix this, dealers will inspect and replace the steering gears as necessary at no cost to owners.

Risk

An incorrectly assembled steering gear can lead to a sudden loss of steering control while driving, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is included in this recall by checking your model and year: 2024-2025 Kenworth (T280, T380, T480, T680, T880, L770, W990) or 2024-2025 Peterbilt (389, 520, 535, 536, 537, 548, 567, 579, 589).
  2. Contact an authorized dealer to schedule a free inspection and, if necessary, a replacement of the steering gear assembly.
