Summary

Terminal Investment Corporation (TICO) is recalling 570 Tico Spotter B 6.7 trucks from the model years 2022-2023. These vehicles are equipped with Sheppard Steering Gears that may have been assembled incorrectly, which can cause the steering gear to fracture. If this occurs, it can lead to a sudden loss of steering control and increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the steering gear serial numbers and replace the gear free of charge if necessary.

Risk

The incorrectly assembled steering gear can break or fracture while the vehicle is in operation. This leads to an immediate loss of steering control, making it impossible for the driver to steer the truck and significantly increasing the likelihood of a collision.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking if it is a 2022-2023 Tico Spotter B 6.7 truck equipped with a Sheppard Steering Gear.
  2. Contact TICO customer service at 1-843-536-8139 to discuss the recall and schedule an inspection.
  3. Bring your vehicle to an authorized dealer who will inspect the serial numbers on the steering gear and replace the component free of charge if it is part of the affected batch.
  4. For additional information, you can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
