Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 11,621 of its 2025 Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450 trucks because the gear shifter on the steering column may have been improperly welded and could detach. If the shifter breaks off, you will be unable to shift the vehicle into 'Park,' which could cause the truck to roll away unexpectedly. Ford dealers will inspect the steering column serial numbers and replace the entire steering column for free if the defect is found.

Risk

A detached shifter prevents the driver from securing the vehicle in 'Park.' This can result in a vehicle rollaway while the truck is unattended or increase the risk of a crash if the vehicle cannot be properly controlled.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall involves 11,621 Ford 2025 Super Duty vehicles, including F-250, F-350, and F-450 models.
  2. Take your vehicle to a Ford dealer to have the steering column serial numbers inspected to determine if your specific shifter assembly is affected.
  3. If the dealer identifies an improperly welded component during the inspection, they will replace the steering column free of charge.
