Summary

Autocar, LLC is recalling 1,131 of its 2022-2023 ACX (Xpeditor) and 2023 DC (Legend) vehicles because a critical bolt in the steering column may not have been properly secured. This loose pinch bolt can cause the steering column shaft to disconnect, resulting in a sudden and total loss of steering control. Autocar dealers will replace the affected steering column shaft pinch bolts for free to ensure the vehicles are safe to operate.

Risk

If the steering column shaft pinch bolt is not properly secured, it can loosen over time and lead to a sudden loss of steering. This loss of control significantly increases the risk of a crash while the vehicle is in motion.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is included in this recall: the affected models are 2022-2023 Autocar ACX (Xpeditor) and 2023 Autocar DC (Legend) vehicles.
  2. Contact an authorized Autocar dealer to schedule a free replacement of the steering column shaft pinch bolts.
  3. If you have additional questions or need help finding a dealer, contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611 and reference recall number ACX-2310 or DC-2308.
  4. For further assistance, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
