Summary

Solowave is recalling approximately 10,800 Tornado brand home playground tube slides because the plastic port hole-style windows can break. The company has received 23 reports of children suffering cuts and scrapes after coming into contact with these broken windows. Affected slides are green, six or seven feet long, and contain either three or five windows. These slides were sold both separately and as part of Centennial, Centennial II, Lexington, Rocky Mountain Deluxe, and Sheridan play systems between February 2008 and August 2013.

Risk

The plastic windows on the sides of the tube slide can shatter or break during use, creating sharp edges that can cut or scrape children as they slide past them.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop children from using the green Tornado brand tube slide on your playground system.
  2. Check the outside of the slide near the middle of any tube section for the 'Solowave Design' stamp to confirm it is an affected product.
  3. Inspect the slide to see if it features three or five circular plastic port hole windows on the sides.
  4. Contact Solowave toll-free at (866) 678-0376 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or online at www.solowavedesign.com to request a free repair kit for the port hole windows.
  5. For additional questions or to report a safety incident, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
