Summary

Winnebago Towable is recalling 1,211 of its 2022 Micro Minnie FLX and Hike travel trailers. The mounting hardware on these vehicles can loosen, which may cause the solar panel to completely detach from the trailer while it is being towed. Dealers will provide and install butyl adhesive tape between the solar panel and its mounting bracket to secure the components at no cost to owners.

Risk

A solar panel that detaches while the vehicle is in transit becomes a road hazard, which can strike other vehicles or cause following drivers to swerve, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your travel trailer's model and year to see if it is a 2022 Winnebago Micro Minnie FLX or 2022 Winnebago Hike.
  2. Contact Winnebago customer service at 1-574-825-5280 Ext. 5220 to confirm if your specific VIN is included in recall CAM0000040.
  3. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Winnebago Towable dealer for the free repair: 'Dealers will install butyl adhesive tape between the solar panel and mounting bracket, free of charge.'
  4. Wait for your owner notification letter, which Winnebago expects to mail by December 15, 2024.
  5. For additional questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
