Summary

SODA SENSE is recalling about 19,200 type 2 (0.6 liter) silver CO2 canisters because a valve inside the canister can break, causing the top valve to forcefully eject. This defect has resulted in 18 reports of valves ejecting, causing damage to home soda machines and surrounding property like glassware and plates. The recalled canisters were sold through the Soda Sense mail order exchange program and online between May 2020 and June 2020. Consumers should immediately stop using these canisters and contact the company for a free replacement.

Risk

A internal valve failure can cause the top valve of the canister to shoot off with high force, potentially striking users or bystanders and causing property damage. There have been 18 reports of this ejection occurring, which damaged soda machines and nearby household items.
