Skylight Recalls Power Adapters Sold with Digital Photo Frames Due to Electrical Shock Hazard (Recall Alert)

Summary

Skylight is recalling approximately 65,000 Series I power adapters sold with their digital photo frames. The plastic casing on these adapters can break when plugged in, exposing live metal prongs and creating a danger of electric shock. The company has received eight reports of these adapters breaking, including one instance where a consumer was shocked. These black adapters were sold nationwide at Von Maur stores and online at Amazon.com and skylightframe.com between April 2018 and March 2019.

Risk

The external plastic housing of the power adapter is prone to breaking during use, which leaves the internal metal prongs exposed while connected to an electrical outlet. This allows a user to come into direct contact with live electricity, which has already caused at least one reported injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled Series I power adapters and unplug them from your wall outlet.
  2. Check your adapter for a circular indentation on the side to identify it as a Series I model. You can also verify the UPC code 679113611535 found on the original packaging.
  3. Contact Skylight to receive instructions on the proper disposal of the faulty adapter and to request a free replacement power adapter.
  4. Reach Skylight toll-free at 888-359-4389 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email newadapter@realtimeresults.net, or visit www.skylightframe.com and click on 'Product Recall Information'.
