Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 125 units of the 2023 Dodge Durango Pursuit vehicles that are equipped with a shifter mounted on the instrument panel. The shifter boot can interfere with the shifting mechanism, causing the vehicle to unexpectedly jump out of gear while you are driving. This defect leads to a sudden loss of drive power, which could occur without warning on the road. To fix this issue, dealers will replace the instrument panel mounted shifter boot with a corrected version at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the shifter moves out of gear while the vehicle is in motion, the driver will experience a sudden loss of engine power to the wheels. This unexpected loss of acceleration and control significantly increases the risk of a crash, especially in high-traffic or high-speed situations.

What You Should Do

  1. Verify if your vehicle is a 2023 Dodge Durango Pursuit model equipped with a shifter mounted on the instrument panel.
  2. Check your mail for an owner notification letter from FCA US, LLC (mailed around November 7, 2023) or contact your local dealership to confirm your vehicle's inclusion in recall 94A.
  3. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Chrysler or Dodge dealer to have the instrument panel mounted shifter boot replaced free of charge.
  4. If you have questions, contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 94A.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
