Chrysler (FCA US, LLC): Dodge Charger and Durango Recalled for Faulty Shifter Assembly

Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 5,834 model year 2022 Dodge Charger and Durango vehicles because the shifter assembly was not properly heat-treated. This manufacturing defect can prevent the shifter from properly locking into the 'drive' position. If the vehicle is not securely in gear, the shifter may unexpectedly slip out of the 'drive' position while the vehicle is in motion. Owners will receive a free replacement of the shifter assembly from their local dealer.

Risk

An improperly engaged shifter can slip out of 'drive' into another position, causing a sudden loss of engine power to the wheels. This unexpected loss of drive power while moving increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2022 Dodge Charger or 2022 Dodge Durango affected by this recall.
  2. Check your vehicle's 17-character VIN on the NHTSA website (www.nhtsa.gov/recalls) or contact a Dodge dealer to confirm if your specific unit is part of recall ZB3.
  3. Contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 to schedule a free appointment with an authorized dealer to have the shifter assembly replaced.
