Summary

Corp. Micro Bird, Inc. is recalling 2,454 school buses, including 2023-2025 T-Series and G5 models, and 2024-2025 MBII models equipped with power-assisted service doors. The rod-eye rings that attach the door panels to the opening gear can peel apart (delaminate), which prevents the driver from controlling the door. Dealers will inspect the door mechanism and perform a free repair as necessary.

Risk

If the door mechanism fails, the door may stay open or open unexpectedly while the bus is in motion. This increases the risk of a passenger falling out of the bus and being injured.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall involves 2023-2025 Micro Bird T-Series and G5 school buses, as well as 2024-2025 Micro Bird MBII school buses equipped with power-assisted service doors.
  2. Contact an authorized Micro Bird dealer to schedule a free inspection of the service door mechanism to check for signs of delamination.
  3. If the door mechanism is found to be defective, the dealer will repair the mechanism free of charge.
  4. Owners can contact Micro Bird Customer Service at 819-477-2012 and reference recall number 25-116-RUS.
  5. For additional questions, call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls.
