Summary

Select Brands is recalling approximately 4,069 Kitchen Selectives 6-Speed Blenders (model BL-15) because the plastic pitcher can detach from the blade assembly during use. When this happens, the rotating blades are left exposed in the base, creating a serious risk of cuts to users. These blenders were sold for about $20 at Pamida and Sutherlands retail stores in the Midwest from June 2009 through April 2012. Consumers should immediately stop using these blenders and return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

Risk

The plastic pitcher can separate from the blade assembly while the blender is running, leaving the sharp, rotating blades exposed in the base. This defect poses a laceration hazard to anyone operating or near the device.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the bottom of your blender base for the model number 'BL-15' to see if your unit is included in this recall.
  2. Identify the affected blender by looking for a six-inch tall white base with five white speed buttons (labeled 1-5), one gray button labeled 'Pulse/Off', and the 'Kitchen Selectives' logo in black letters on the front.
  3. Immediately stop using any Kitchen Selectives 6-Speed Blender model BL-15.
  4. Return the recalled blender to the retail store where it was purchased (Pamida or Sutherlands) to receive a full refund.
