Summary

PACCAR Incorporated is recalling approximately 3,841 Kenworth trucks, including the 2020 Kenworth T660 and 2018-2024 Kenworth T800 and W900 models. The recall was issued because an extra spacer may have been incorrectly added to the joint connecting the seat to the seat belt tether and buckle. This defect creates an unsecured connection that may prevent the seat belt from properly restraining a driver or passenger during a crash. Owners will be able to have their vehicles inspected and repaired by a dealer free of charge.

Risk

If the seat belt tether connection is unsecured due to the extra spacer, the seat belt may fail to hold the occupant in place during a collision, significantly increasing the risk of serious injury or death.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own an affected vehicle: 2020 Kenworth T660, or 2018-2024 Kenworth T800 or W900 models.
  2. Contact an authorized PACCAR/Kenworth dealer to schedule a free inspection of the seat belt tether and buckle joint.
  3. If the extra spacer is found, the dealer will remove it and replace the bolt as necessary to ensure a secure connection at no cost to you.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact PACCAR customer service at 1-425-828-5888 and reference recall number 23KWK.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
