Summary

Porsche Cars North America is recalling approximately 37 vehicles, including certain 2016-2020 Macan S, 2017-2020 Macan, and several Panamera models. The screw responsible for attaching the lower seat belt anchor to the seat frame on the rear outboard seats may not have been tightened correctly during manufacturing. If this screw is loose, the seat belt could detach during a crash, failing to protect the occupant as intended. Owners of affected vehicles will receive a free repair from Porsche dealers to replace and properly tighten the anchor screws.

Risk

An improperly tightened seat belt anchor can detach from the seat frame during a collision. If the anchor detaches, the seat belt will not be able to restrain the passenger, significantly increasing the risk of serious injury or death during a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is one of the 37 units affected by checking your model and year: 2016-2020 Macan S, 2017-2020 Macan, 2017 Panamera Turbo, 2018 or 2020 Macan Turbo or Panamera 4, 2018 Macan Sport Edition or Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, or 2019 Panamera 4 Sport Turismo.
  2. Contact an authorized Porsche dealer to schedule a free appointment to have the lower rear outboard seat belt anchor screws replaced and tightened to the correct specification.
