Summary

Approximately 42,500 Kenmore oscillating fan heaters are being recalled because the motor mounts can break, causing the units to overheat and catch fire. There have been seven reports of these heaters smoking or catching fire, including one report of smoke inhalation and one report of a finger blister. The recalled units are model 127.90914310 and were sold at Sears and Kmart stores nationwide between September and November 2013 for about $35 to $40. Consumers should immediately stop using these heaters and return them to any Sears or Kmart for a full refund.

Risk

Broken motor mounts within the fan can lead to internal overheating and fires that may spread to nearby items, posing significant fire and burn hazards. Two injuries have already been reported, including smoke inhalation and a burn to a consumer's finger.

What You Should Do

  2. Immediately turn off and unplug the recalled fan heater to prevent the risk of fire.
  3. Return the recalled fan heater to any Sears or Kmart store location to receive a full refund.
