SATCO Products Recalls KolourOne LED Light Bulbs Due to Risk of Injury

Summary

SATCO Products is recalling about 119,000 KolourOne brand LED light bulbs because the metal housing and lens assembly can separate from the base and fall unexpectedly. This recall includes Panel Array 2.0 and DUO 2.0 PAR 30 and 38 models sold in various wattages and neck lengths. There have been four reports of these bulb components separating, although no injuries have been reported yet. These bulbs were sold at electrical supply stores, lighting showrooms, and online at Amazon.com between December 2012 and February 2014 for about $35 to $45.

Risk

The heavy metal housing and lens assembly can detach from the bulb's base while the bulb is installed in a fixture. This creates a risk of impact injuries to anyone standing or walking beneath the light fixture if the components fall.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the neck of your light bulb for the KolourOne logo and a product number beginning with S89 or S90.
  2. Inspect the outer rim of the optical lens for a lot number; if the last character of the lot number is the letter 'A', the bulb is NOT included in this recall.
  3. If your bulb is affected, immediately stop using it and carefully remove it from the lighting fixture.
  4. Contact SATCO Products Inc. at (888) 770-7125 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday to receive free replacement bulbs.
  5. Visit www.satco.com and click on 'Lamp Recall' then 'Consumer Product Returns' for additional information and instructions on the replacement process.
  6. For further assistance, you can contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
