Summary

Hyundai Motor America is recalling approximately 16,104 of its 2022 Tucson and 2022-2023 Santa Cruz vehicles because the roof moldings may detach from the vehicle while driving. If a molding strip comes loose, it can fly off and create a significant road hazard for other drivers. Hyundai dealers will inspect the moldings and either secure them or replace them entirely at no cost to owners.

Risk

A roof molding that detaches while the vehicle is in motion can become an unexpected projectile or road hazard, which significantly increases the risk of a crash for following or oncoming traffic.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your model and year: this recall includes certain 2022 Hyundai Tucson and 2022-2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz vehicles.
  2. Contact an authorized Hyundai dealer to schedule a free inspection; technicians will ensure the roof moldings are properly secured or replace them if necessary.
