Summary

BMW of North America is recalling 130 of its 2025 X4 xDrive 30i, X4 M40i, and X4 M luxury vehicles. The inner-left roof frame in these vehicles may have a crack near the head air bag that occurred during manufacturing. BMW dealers will inspect the roof frame and perform any necessary repairs free of charge to ensure occupant safety.

Risk

A crack in the roof frame can damage the head air bag as it inflates during a collision. If the air bag is damaged during deployment, it may not protect occupants as intended, significantly increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's identification to see if it is a 2025 BMW X4 xDrive 30i, X4 M40i, or X4 M model.
  2. Contact an authorized BMW dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair of the inner-left roof frame. You can reach BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 for assistance.
  3. Follow the official remedy instructions: Dealers will inspect and if necessary, repair the inner-left roof frame, free of charge.
  4. Wait for your owner notification letter (mailed January 28, 2025) which contains additional details regarding your specific vehicle.
  5. For additional questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
