Summary

Resource Recovery & Trading LLC is recalling approximately 17,395 units of ethyl alcohol-based hand sanitizers, including 200 mL bottles of Hand Sanitizer Disinfectant Gel and 20L containers of HAND SANITIZER Non-sterile Solution. The recall was initiated due to significant deviations from Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations, which are the standards used by the FDA to ensure product quality and safety. All lots of these products are affected and were distributed in Alabama and Georgia.

Risk

Failure to follow good manufacturing practices can lead to products that are contaminated, ineffective, or otherwise unsafe for topical use. Because these products did not meet quality control standards during production, they may pose a risk of infection or skin irritation to consumers.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your product labels for Hand Sanitizer Disinfectant Gel 70% Ethyl Alcohol in 6.7 FL Oz. (200 mL) bottles with UPC 650240025020, or HAND SANITIZER Non-sterile Solution 70% Topical Solution in 20L (5.28 Gal) plastic containers with UPC 37710600013.
  2. Identify if you have any of these products by looking for 'All lots' of the 200 mL bottles distributed by Access USA, or the 20L containers distributed by Resource Recovery & Trading LLC.
  3. Immediately stop using these hand sanitizer products and do not apply them to your skin.
  4. Contact your healthcare provider or pharmacist for guidance if you have used these products and have concerns about your health.
  5. Return any unused product to the place of purchase for a full refund and contact Resource Recovery & Trading LLC at their La Jolla, CA office for further instructions.
  6. For additional questions, contact the FDA Consumer Complaint hotline at 1-888-723-3332 (1-888-SAFEFDA) or visit www.fda.gov/safety/recalls.
