Harley-Davidson Motor Company: 2023 FLHXSE and FLTRXSE Motorcycles Recalled for Rear Brake Fluid Leak

Summary

Harley-Davidson is recalling 4,014 model year 2023 FLHXSE and FLTRXSE motorcycles because the rear brake line may not be properly secured. This lack of security allows the brake line to rub against the exhaust pipe, which can wear through the line and cause a brake fluid leak. If you own one of these motorcycles, Harley-Davidson dealers will replace the rear brake line clamp with a new one at no cost to you.

Risk

A leak in the rear brake line can lead to a sudden reduction in braking ability. This failure to stop as expected significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your motorcycle is a 2023 Harley-Davidson FLHXSE or FLTRXSE model.
  2. Contact an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer to schedule a free replacement of the rear brake line clamp.
  3. If you have further questions, contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464 and reference recall number 0184.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
