Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 13,451 of its 2020 Escape vehicles because the rear brake pads were manufactured incorrectly. This defect can reduce braking performance in the event of a brake booster malfunction, making it harder to stop the vehicle. Authorized Ford dealers will replace the front brake pads with an improved version at no cost to owners.

Risk

Reduced brake function can require the driver to apply significantly more force to the brake pedal, which extends the distance required to stop the vehicle and increases the risk of a crash.
