Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 196 Mopar Center Stack UPR Displays because a faulty transistor can overheat, causing the display to fail. This defect prevents the rearview camera image from appearing when the vehicle is in reverse, which violates federal safety standards for rear visibility. Chrysler is offering a free inspection and replacement for installed units, or a repurchase for uninstalled parts.

Risk

If the rearview camera image does not display, the driver's visibility is significantly reduced while backing up. This failure to show what is behind the vehicle increases the risk of hitting an object or person, potentially leading to a crash or injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle or spare part is affected by identifying the following Mopar Center Stack UPR Display part numbers: 68375145AG, 68375145AH, 68474166AG, or 68474166AH.
  2. If the display is already installed in your vehicle, contact a Chrysler dealer to schedule a free inspection and replacement of the unit.
  3. If you purchased this display part but have not yet installed it in a vehicle, return it to an authorized dealer for a full repurchase.
  4. For further assistance, contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 and reference recall number 12C.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
