Honda (American Honda Motor Co.): Odyssey, Pilot, and Passport Vehicles Recalled for Rearview Camera Failure

Summary

Honda is recalling approximately 1.2 million vehicles, including 2018-2023 Odyssey, 2019-2022 Pilot, and 2019-2023 Passport models. A faulty communication cable connector can cause the rearview camera image to fail to appear on the dashboard display. Dealers will replace the cable harness and install a straightening cover over the connector free of charge to ensure the camera functions correctly.

Risk

If the rearview camera image does not display, the driver’s visibility behind the vehicle is significantly reduced. This failure increases the risk of a crash or injury to bystanders when the vehicle is in reverse.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if it is included in this recall: 2018-2023 Honda Odyssey, 2019-2022 Honda Pilot, or 2019-2023 Honda Passport.
  2. Contact an authorized Honda dealer to schedule a free repair; the dealer will replace the MOST cable harness and install a protective straightening cover over the cable connector.
  3. If you have already paid for these repairs, contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 to inquire about reimbursement, referencing recall numbers EEL, ZEM, or SFC.
  4. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
