General Motors, LLC: Cadillac XT4 Recalled for Rearview Camera Failure

Summary

General Motors is recalling approximately 10,199 of its 2019-2020 Cadillac XT4 vehicles that are equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature. The vehicle's video processing module (VPM) may stop communicating with the rearview camera, which results in the rearview image not appearing on the screen when the vehicle is in reverse. Dealers will provide a free software update or replace the module entirely to fix the issue.

Risk

If the rearview camera image fails to display, the driver's visibility behind the vehicle is significantly reduced. This lack of visibility increases the likelihood of a crash or striking a pedestrian while backing up.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2019-2020 Cadillac XT4 equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature.
  2. Contact a Cadillac dealership to schedule a free appointment to have the video processing module (VPM) software updated or the module replaced.
  3. If you have already received an interim notification or a final owner notification letter (mailed February 3, 2023), follow the instructions provided to secure your repair.
  4. For more information or to check your VIN, contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 and mention GM recall number N222373320.
  5. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for further assistance.
