Summary

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. is recalling approximately 198,940 Outlander and Outlander PHEV vehicles because the rearview camera image may freeze or not appear on the display screen. This is caused by a software error in the vehicle's infotainment system (A-IVI). Mitsubishi dealers will update the software free of charge. Owners who had their vehicles repaired under a previous recall (number 23V345) must have this new repair performed, as the previous fix was insufficient.

Risk

A rearview camera that fails to display an image reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle while reversing. This increases the risk of a crash or striking a pedestrian or object.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall involves 2022-2024 Mitsubishi Outlander and 2023-2025 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV vehicles equipped with the A-IVI infotainment system.
  2. Check if your vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA recall 23V345; even if it was, you must still bring the vehicle in for this new software update to ensure the camera functions correctly.
  3. Contact an authorized Mitsubishi dealer to schedule an appointment for a free software update for your vehicle's infotainment system.
  4. For more information, contact Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. customer service regarding recall number SR-25-001.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for additional information.
