Summary

Polestar Automotive USA is recalling approximately 27,816 Polestar 2 vehicles from the 2021 through 2025 model years. In these vehicles, the rearview camera image may not display when the car is shifted into reverse, which fails to meet federal safety requirements for rear visibility. To fix this, authorized retailers will perform a free software update, even for vehicles that were previously repaired under a different recall for a similar issue.

Risk

If the rearview camera fails to show an image, the driver has a reduced view of objects or people behind the vehicle while reversing, which significantly increases the risk of a crash or injury.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall involves 2021-2025 Polestar 2 vehicles where the rearview camera may fail to display an image when the vehicle is placed in reverse.
  2. Contact an authorized Polestar retailer to schedule an appointment for a free software update to resolve the camera display issue.
  3. If your vehicle was previously repaired under recall number 24V-477, you must still bring the vehicle in to have this new software update completed.
  4. For further information, contact Polestar customer service at 1-800-806-2504 and reference recall number RP1056.
  5. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more details.
