Summary

Volkswagen Group of America is recalling approximately 29,569 vehicles, including certain 2022-2024 Tiguan, 2023 Arteon, and 2024-2025 Audi Q3 models. A software error in the camera control unit can prevent the rearview camera image from appearing when the vehicle is started, which fails to comply with federal safety standards for rear visibility. To fix this issue, authorized dealers will provide a free software update for the camera control unit.

Risk

If the rearview camera image does not display, the driver's visibility behind the vehicle is reduced, which significantly increases the risk of a crash or hitting a pedestrian while reversing.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is affected by identifying your model: 2022-2024 Volkswagen Tiguan, 2023 Volkswagen Arteon, or 2024-2025 Audi Q3.
  2. Contact an authorized Volkswagen or Audi dealer to schedule a free appointment to have your camera control unit software updated.
  3. If you own a Volkswagen, look for a second notification letter that will be sent once remedy parts and software are fully available for your specific vehicle.
  4. For further assistance, contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 (refer to recall 91NY) or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 (refer to recall 90AV).
