Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 391 of their 2025 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles due to a software defect that can cause the rearview camera image to fail when the vehicle reaches speeds of 10 MPH or greater. This defect prevents the system from complying with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, which regulates rear visibility. Ford is providing a free software update to resolve this issue through either an over-the-air (OTA) update or at a local dealership.

Risk

The loss of the rearview camera image while in reverse reduces driver visibility, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.
