Hyundai Motor America: Genesis GV60 and GV80 Recalled for Rearview Camera Display Failure

Summary

Hyundai Motor America is recalling approximately 1,488 Genesis vehicles, specifically the 2024-2025 GV60 hybrid and 2025 GV80 models. The rearview camera display in these vehicles may unexpectedly shut off while the driver is operating the vehicle in reverse. This failure prevents the vehicle from complying with federal safety standards for rear visibility, and dealers will provide a free software update to resolve the issue.

Risk

If the rearview camera image fails to display, it significantly reduces the driver's visibility of the area behind the vehicle. This increases the likelihood of a crash or hitting a pedestrian when backing up.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make and model year to see if you own a 2024-2025 Genesis GV60 hybrid or a 2025 Genesis GV80.
  2. Contact an authorized Genesis dealer to schedule a service appointment for a free update to the rearview camera software.
  3. If you have additional questions, contact Genesis Customer Service at 1-844-340-9741 and reference Hyundai recall number 024G.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
