Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 7,895 vehicles, including certain 2020-2021 Jeep Wrangler, 2020-2021 RAM 1500, and 2021 Jeep Gladiator models. A software error in the vehicle's radio system can prevent the rearview camera image from appearing on the display screen when the vehicle is put into reverse. Because of this defect, the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for rear visibility. To fix the issue, dealers will perform a radio software update free of charge.

Risk

A rearview camera that fails to display an image significantly reduces the driver's visibility behind the vehicle while backing up. This increases the risk of a crash or hitting a person or object.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if you own an affected vehicle: a 2020-2021 Jeep Wrangler, a 2020-2021 RAM 1500, or a 2021 Jeep Gladiator.
  2. Contact an authorized Chrysler, Jeep, or RAM dealership to schedule a free appointment to have your vehicle's radio software updated.
  3. If you have further questions, contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and refer to recall number Z86.
  4. For additional information, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
