Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 177,402 vehicles, including various 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, 2018-2021 Lincoln Navigator, 2022-2023 Ford Transit, and 2021 Ford Bronco models. These vehicles are equipped with rearview or 360-degree cameras that may fail to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. Dealers will replace the rearview camera and update the software and wiring as necessary at no cost to owners.

Risk

A malfunctioning rearview camera reduces the driver's visibility behind the vehicle, which significantly increases the risk of a crash while backing up. This failure may occur without warning whenever the vehicle is placed in reverse gear.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your vehicle's make, model, and year: 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, 2018-2021 Lincoln Navigator, 2022-2023 Ford Transit, or 2021 Ford Bronco.
  2. Contact a Ford or Lincoln dealership to schedule a free appointment to have the rearview camera replaced and the system software and wiring updated.
  3. If you are a Lincoln owner, you should have received a notification letter around November 20, 2023; Ford owners were mailed letters starting March 4, 2024.
  4. For Ford Transit and Bronco owners, please note that remedy parts are anticipated to be available in the second quarter of 2024.
  5. You may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 23S48 for more information.
