Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 442,973 vehicles, including certain 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair models equipped with 360-degree cameras. The 360-degree camera system may fail to provide video output, preventing the rearview camera image from appearing when the vehicle is in reverse. Ford dealers will replace the 360-degree camera with a new unit at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the rearview camera image fails to display, the driver's visibility behind the vehicle is significantly reduced. This increases the likelihood of a crash or striking a pedestrian while backing up.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is part of this recall by checking if you own a 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, or a 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair equipped with a 360-degree camera system.
  2. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) on the NHTSA website or contact a Ford/Lincoln dealer to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 23S23.
  3. Even if your vehicle was previously repaired under recall 23V-022, you must have this new remedy performed as this recall expands and replaces the previous one.
  4. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or a local Ford or Lincoln dealer to schedule a free replacement of the 360-degree camera.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
