Ford Motor Company: 2022 Transit Vehicles Recalled for Missing Rearview Camera Image

Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 46 of its 2022 Transit vehicles that were manufactured with a missing audio control module (ACM). Because of this missing part, the rearview camera image will not appear on the dashboard display when the driver shifts the vehicle into reverse. To resolve this issue, Ford dealers will install the missing module and program the unit at no cost to the vehicle owners.

Risk

A blank rearview display screen significantly reduces the driver's ability to see objects, people, or other vehicles directly behind them. This lack of visibility increases the likelihood of a collision or hitting a pedestrian while backing up.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2022 Ford Transit vehicle equipped with a rearview camera.
  2. Check your vehicle's rearview display by safely shifting into reverse in a controlled environment to see if the camera image appears.
  3. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 22S54 to confirm if your vehicle is one of the 46 units included in this recall.
  4. If your vehicle is affected, schedule an appointment with an authorized Ford dealer to have the audio control module (ACM) installed and programmed free of charge.
  5. For further assistance or questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
