Summary

Indian Motorcycle Company is recalling 1,773 motorcycles from the 2024 model year, including Chieftain, Challenger, Pursuit, Roadmaster, and Springfield models. The rear suspension pushrod on these motorcycles may buckle under heavy loads, leading to mechanical failure. If this happens, it can cause the motorcycle to bottom out, damage the rear tire, or compromise the main chassis harness and coolant reservoir. Owners are advised to contact an authorized dealer for a free replacement of the pushrod.

Risk

A buckled pushrod can cause the motorcycle to bottom out suddenly or damage the rear tire, leading to a loss of control. Additionally, the failing component may pinch electrical wiring or puncture the coolant reservoir, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your motorcycle is affected by checking your vehicle model and year against this list: 2024 Indian Chieftain, Challenger, Pursuit, Roadmaster, and Springfield.
  2. Contact an authorized Indian Motorcycle dealer to schedule a service appointment for a free replacement of the rear suspension pushrod.
  3. If you have additional questions, contact Indian Motorcycle customer service at 1-877-204-3697 and reference recall number I-24-07.
  4. Call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
