Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 13,455 of its 2020-2021 F-53 recreational stripped chassis vehicles. The rear stabilizer bar attachment brackets on these chassis may break and fall off the vehicle while driving. Ford dealers will inspect the tightness of the bolts on both rear stabilizer attachment brackets and, if necessary, replace the weld nuts and bolts at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If the brackets break and separate from the vehicle, they can fall onto the roadway and become a significant road hazard for other motorists, which increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle registration or purchase documents to confirm if your vehicle is a 2020-2021 Ford F-53 recreational stripped chassis.
  2. Contact a local Ford dealer to schedule a free inspection of your rear stabilizer bar attachment brackets.
  3. If the inspection shows issues, the dealer will replace the weld nuts and bolts free of charge to ensure the brackets are securely attached.
  4. If you have questions, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 22S62.
  5. For additional information, you can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
