Summary

Porsche Cars North America is recalling 53 units of certain 2023-2024 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, 2024 Porsche 718 Boxster S, and 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 vehicles. The rear electronic control unit (ECU) in these vehicles may allow the spoiler to raise too high when deployed. Owners can bring their vehicles to an authorized dealer to receive a free software update for the ECU to correct the deployment height.

Risk

A rear spoiler that raises too high can block the center high-mounted brake light, making it harder for other drivers to see when the vehicle is stopping. This obstruction, along with unintended changes to vehicle aerodynamics, increases the risk of a crash.
