Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 16,375 model year 2022-2023 F-150 BEV (electric) vehicles. The rear lightbar on these trucks may develop microcracks in the outer lens that allow moisture to leak inside, causing the reverse lights to flicker or stop working entirely. Dealers will replace the faulty rear lightbar with a new one at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the reverse lights are flickering or inoperative, other drivers may not realize the vehicle is backing up. This lack of communication between drivers increases the risk of a collision or injury to pedestrians.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2022-2023 Ford F-150 BEV (Lightning) model.
  2. Inspect your rear lightbar for signs of moisture accumulation, visible microcracks in the lens, or flickering reverse lights.
  3. Contact any Ford dealer to schedule a free replacement of the rear lightbar assembly.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 23S30.
  5. For further assistance, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
