General Motors, LLC: Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana Recalled for Fire Risk in Rear HVAC Wiring

Summary

General Motors is recalling approximately 150,830 Chevrolet Express Cutaway and GMC Savana Cutaway vehicles from model years 2003 through 2023. These vehicles were manufactured with wiring for an optional rear heating and air conditioning system that may have been left unused and exposed. If these connectors are not sealed, they can corrode and overheat, which poses a significant fire hazard. Dealers will properly seal these electrical circuits at the left side B-pillar at no cost to the owner.

Risk

The exposed electrical connectors in the rear HVAC blower motor circuit can corrode over time, leading to an electrical short and overheating. This overheating creates a high risk of fire even when the vehicle is not in use.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your registration for 2003-2023 Chevrolet Express Cutaway or 2003-2023 GMC Savana Cutaway models.
