Summary

Micro Bird is recalling 22,582 school buses including 2008-2025 G5, 2008-2024 MBII, and 2015-2024 T-Series models. The exterior handle of the rear emergency door can unexpectedly break when force is applied to open it. Micro Bird dealers will replace the faulty door handles with a new part free of charge to ensure the doors function correctly during an emergency.

Risk

If the exterior handle breaks during an emergency, it can prevent or delay emergency responders from entering the bus through the rear door. This delay significantly increases the risk of injury to passengers trapped inside the vehicle.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's model and year to see if it is one of the affected school buses: 2008-2025 G5, 2008-2024 MBII, or 2015-2024 T-Series.
  2. Locate the manufacturer's recall number for this issue, which is 24-109-EUS, and have your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) ready.
  3. Contact Micro Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012 to schedule a free repair with an authorized dealer.
  4. Take the bus to a dealer to have the rear emergency door exterior handle replaced at no cost to you.
  5. For additional questions or to check your VIN, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls.
