Hyundai Motor America: Genesis GV60 Recalled for Rear Driveshaft Fracture and Loss of Power

Summary

Hyundai Motor America is recalling approximately 1,790 of its 2023 Genesis GV60 vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive. The rear driveshafts in these vehicles may fracture, which can cause a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. To address this safety concern, Hyundai dealers will replace both the left and right rear driveshafts at no cost to the owner.

Risk

If a driveshaft fractures, the vehicle will lose the ability to move under its own power, which significantly increases the risk of a crash, especially if it occurs at high speeds or in heavy traffic.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking if it is a 2023 Genesis GV60 equipped with an all-wheel drive powertrain system.
  2. Contact any Genesis/Hyundai dealer to schedule a free appointment to have both the left and right rear driveshafts replaced.
  3. If you have already received a notification letter (mailed around June 23, 2023), bring it with you to your service appointment.
  4. For further information or to confirm your vehicle's status, contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 and reference recall number 014G.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
