Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 103,174 of its 2023-2025 F-150 trucks equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle. A bolt in the rear axle hub may fatigue and break, which can damage the axle hub splines. Dealers will replace both the left and right rear axle shaft assemblies free of charge.

Risk

Broken hub bolts can lead to damaged splines, causing the truck to roll away while parked if the parking brake isn't used, or causing a sudden loss of drive power while moving. Either situation significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall involves 2023-2025 Ford F-150 vehicles specifically equipped with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle featuring a 3/4 float axle design.
  2. Apply the electronic parking brake every time you park the vehicle to prevent a potential rollaway until the recall repair has been performed.
  3. Contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to schedule a free replacement of the left and right rear axle shaft assemblies.
  4. Be aware that this is a phased recall: Phase 1 (2023 models) begins August 2025, Phase 2 (2025 models) and Phase 3 (2024 models) will continue through Winter 2025.
  5. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 25S82 for more information.
  6. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for additional assistance.
