Summary

Approximately 158,000 Razor RipStik electric motorized caster boards are being recalled because the rear wheel can lock up while in use. Razor has received over 700 reports of the wheel locking, including four reports of injuries such as a loose tooth, scrapes, and bruises. The recalled boards are blue and black, featuring a hub motor and lithium-ion battery, and were sold nationwide at stores like Target, Toys R Us, and Walmart, as well as online from February 2016 through April 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Razor for a free repair kit.

Risk

The rear wheel can suddenly stop rotating and lock up while the board is in motion, causing the rider to be thrown off. This has resulted in several reported falls and injuries, including dental damage and lacerations.

  3. Verify the branding by looking for 'RipStik' printed on the top of the board and 'Razor USA LLC' embossed on the bottom.
