Summary

Rainfield Marketing Group is recalling approximately 1,200 cartons of Enoki mushrooms (150g) because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The contamination was discovered during retail sampling by the California Department of Public Health. These mushrooms were sold in clear plastic bags with orange bottoms and were distributed to stores in California, Texas, and Maryland. Consumers should return these mushrooms to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Risk

The mushrooms may contain Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. In pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, and severe illness in newborns.
